Hello readers of the world and welcome to Greek Literature Abroad!
I am sure that, wherever you may live, you probably know the names of some Greek authors. You are familiar with Homer and Plato, Aristophanes and Sappho, Aesop and Aristotle. You have probably heard the names of Odysseas Elytis and Giorgos Seferis, the Greek Nobel laureates. Or even Nikos Kazantzakis, Constantine P. Cavafis, Alexandros Papadiamantis and Yannis Ritsos, some of the most celebrated and important Greek authors of all time. Their books bring prose and poetry from Greece to many different countries across the globe.
But what about contemporary writers? What about books by Greek authors that are currently published abroad? As the number of Greek books in translation increases, there is an ever rising need to showcase them for readers that are interested to explore Greek literature.
The goal of Greek Literature Abroad is to present and catalogue Greek books that are translated in every language of the world. On our blog you will find information about each publication, as we will try to feature all Greek books in translation from 2010 onwards.
